Our season closes with a return to the monumental Beethoven Razumovsky Quartets — this time the compelling String Quartet in E minor, Op. 59 No. 2.
The work begins with a jolt — two stark opening chords that seem to start time itself, pulling us straight into the drama of his narrative world. This, the darkest of the three Op. 59 quartets, offers some of the most strikingly beautiful moments as well as some of the most dramatic ones. The finale bursts out with racing three-note rockets that drive the music toward a storm-charged conclusion. It’s a stunning work not to be missed.
