ALICE PICAUD cello

Alice Picaud, cello

French cellist Alice Picaud has enjoyed a career performing as an orchestral musician, chamber musician and soloist throughout France, Europe and the world. She started cello studies at the age of seven and attended the Conservatoire National de Region in Boulogne-Billancourt where she studied with Xavier Gagnepain. In 2011, she graduated from the prestigious Royal College of Music in London where she studied cello with Thomas Carroll and Helène Dautry and chamber music with the Chiligirian Quartet.

As cellist of the Agora Quartet, she entered the renowned Conservatoire National de Musique in Paris where she studied with the Ysaÿe Quartet. They were named as artists with the Jeunes Talents and were invited to perform in festivals, such as Paris Jeunes Talents, the Ars Terra Festival, the Epau Festival, the Académie d’Aix en Provence and Les Nuits Romanes. They performed in several countries, such as Brazil, Japan, Switzerland, Germany and England, won a prize at the European Chamber Music Competition in Paris and were awarded grants from the Lion’s Club and Spédidam.

Alice has performed as a soloist with the Orchestre à Cachan and won second prize and the “Best Interpretation of Contemporary Music” prize at the Cello Competition in Vulaine-sur-Seine. She has also been awarded grants from the Perpignan Lion’s Club and Mécénat MusicalSociéte Générale.

She enjoys participating in a variety of musical projects, such as being a member of several orchestras, performing with the Métamorphoses String Quartet, the Soundpainting Ensemble, Artis Ensemble and the rock band Najar. She maintains a passion for teaching and has recently obtained her Certificat d’Aptitude from the famous Paris CNSM.
